Born and brought up in the rural splendour of the Northern Highlands of Scotland, I started my working life in the beautiful village of Lochinver. It sits in the shadow of its own Sugar Loaf Mountain - Suilven and it was here I learned to appreciate the spectacular scenery of the Highlands.

As a Presbyterian Pastor on the northern shores of Loch Ness, for most of my adult life,  I have got to know the people, stories and places of the Highlands very well. One thing I developed a strong taste for while in University (although I majored in Theology) was History.  When I came to Glen Urquhart, I realised that life was changing so rapidly and yet little was written about the near and distant past of this particular area so, I wrote a local church history; which really was a social history. It began as a leaflet and turned into a 250page book!

When I retired a few years ago I looked around for something that would incorporate my love of driving and the keen interest I have in sharing my country. Tour Guiding allows me to do this. I can share my appreciation of this land and show our guests how incredible it is at the same time.

One of the most gratifying trips last year was when travelling through Skye, one of my guests kept saying. "Incredible! .. incredible!". - was he talking about me? Ah, no....it was the views!!! I did not take offence as I could not agree more!

My family; my sons and my 8 grandchildren (at the last count) are my greatest delight. Family is important to me and I 'd love to be able to visit more but distance gets in the way!
