2 day tour - Isle of Mull, Iona & Duart Castle Tour
48 hr
1,360 British pounds
The Isle of Mull, Iona and Duart Castle Tour is perfect if you enjoy a ferry ride in spectacular surroundings. It has no less than two such return crossings. You travel down Loch Ness, through Fort William and across the first ferry. A drive through the peninsula of Morvern follows, and then the ferry onto the Isle of Mull. You will visit the beautiful island of Iona and Duart Castle before recrossing the sea and returning by an alternate route.
DAY ONE
We set off down the Great Glen alongside Loch Ness, Loch Oich, spectacular Loch Lochy and through Fort William. It is here that we reach the west coast and Loch Linnhe, a long arm running in from the Atlantic Ocean.
Fort William is located on the west coast and is the second largest town in the Highlands. It is nowadays often called the outdoor capital of the UK because of all of the outdoor pursuits available in the district. Nestling at the foot of Nevis Range, highest mountain range in the country, rock and snow sports are both popular. The scenery and wildlife in the surrounding area are exceptional. The town itself is a hive of activity with many shops and pubs and the acclaimed West Highland Museum.
Corran Ferry is the first ferry crossing on our tour. We cross Corran Narrows towards the lighthouse at Ardgour. Clan Maclean held the clanlands here, in past times. Arriving on the western side of the salt-water inlet of Loch Linnhe, we make our way through Morvern towards Lochaline in order to catch the ferry for the Isle of Mull.
We take the Fishnish Ferry because it is the shortest crossing between the Isle of Mull and the mainland, (only about 15 minutes). It also offers excellent views of the beautiful Sound of Mull and the ruins of Ardtornish Castle. We usually arrive at Fishnish at 12.13pm, and drive immediately to Tobermory because it is the ideal location for lunch. There is also the option of taking the ferry from Oban to Craignure and we can advise on the best option when you book.
Tobermory is the pretty capital of the Isle of Mull. It has a great range of souvenir, crafts and gift shops and is well appointed with bars and restaurants. It is famous for all the colourful harbourfront houses, and also being the setting for the childrens’ TV series Balamory. This is where we will overnight.

DAY TWO
An early start to make the best of our time today, we travel past epic mountains down and across the south of Mull where the scenery will not disappoint. Take the passenger ferry to Iona. There is time to enjoy free time exploring the ancient abbey or strolling along the sandy beaches.
Duart Castle is the clan seat of Clan Maclean. It dates from the 12th century and was restored by Sir Fitzroy Maclean in the early years of the 20th century. It has featured in the movies "When Eight Bells Toll" - 1971, and "Entrapment" - 1999. After spending most of the afternoon on the Isle of Mull, we begin our journey back to Inverness.
We then return along the Great Glen back to Inverness, taking, where time allows, some different scenic back roads. You may wish for us to drop you at a different location and we can quote for that on asking.

Ferry tickets are separate online purchases for you. Ferry costs will vary as a result of the number of people in your party and we can let you know the accurate cost of this on enquiring. There will be a guide lodgings island supplement of £180.
The tour departs from your Inverness accommodation, or any transport hub, such as bus station, train station or airport. You tell us, and we’ll be there.

3 day tour - Lewis & Harris
72 hr
1,950 British pounds
The Outer Hebrides have a way of staying with you long after you leave. Three days is just enough to feel their pull. This journey isn’t just a change of place – it’s a change of pace! Over three balanced and unhurried days we will cross seas and mountains to a place where time stretches, the light softens, and we can walk among ancient standing stones. The Outer Hebridean islands of Lewis and Harris will provide memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.
DAY ONE
An early start, leaving Inverness behind. We’ll travel through wooded glens. Open hills and wide skies. We take the morning ferry from the fishing village of Ullapool. The ferry crossing to Storoway is a destination in its own right! As the sea opens up there is every chance we can watch the dolphins or seals that escort us out of The Minch. On arriving on the island we will spend the afternoon exploring the amazing landscape of Harris. We return in the early evening to Stornoway.

DAY TWO
Today we explore Lewis. Spending time with the iconic Callanish Standing Stones. This is a place of myth and ancestral presence, a place that never feels the same twice! Dun Carloway Broch is next. This Iron Age tower allows us to imagine the resilient and resourceful people who once lived here. Next, we move on to Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, where traditional thatched homes tell the story of island life just a century ago. Smoke-blackened walls, low doorways, and the Atlantic just beyond, simple, hard, and beautifully human. The afternoon could take us out to the wild west coast where the land simply ends and the Atlantic takes over. Here there is space for photographs, short walks, fresh air, and that unmistakable Hebridean sense of perspective.

DAY THREE
Our last day on the island is deliberately unhurried. A morning at leisure to explore the village of Stornoway. We board the lunchtime ferry back to Ullapool and make our scenic drive back to Inverness.

Includes our knowledgeable Chauffeur-Guide, vehicle all fuel and insurance. There would be two nights in Stornoway and the overnight subsistence for the Guide would be 2 x £170. The tour rate does not include the ferry costs, and we can quote for that upon asking, as it will depend on how many people are in your group.
NB: Price is for guide and vehicle only. Admissions, food and guide gratuities are not included.
